Purpose. This register lists every tractor, vehicle, sprayer, mower, quad bike, chainsaw and item of landscape plant, with its service, inspection, calibration and operator competency status.

1.Purpose

Greenfield operates more than 120 items of plant across four sites. This register is the single record of what the business owns, where it is, whether it is safe to use and who is competent to use it. It supports the pre-start and maintenance rules in the Tractor, Quad Bike and Machinery Operation Procedure.

2.What is recorded

Each item has an asset number, description, make, model, serial number, site, date of purchase, service interval, last and next service, last inspection, calibration date for sprayers and seeders, and the names of workers signed off to operate it. Faults are recorded against the item with the date reported and the date cleared.

  • Asset number and description
  • Site and custodian
  • Service and inspection dates
  • Calibration dates for sprayers and seeders
  • Authorised operators

3.Tagging out

Any item with a safety fault must be tagged out with a danger tag, recorded in the register as out of service and not used until the fault is cleared and the tag removed by the Irrigation and Plant Supervisor or a delegate.

4.Servicing and calibration

Servicing must follow the manufacturer's schedule. Boom sprayers must be calibrated at the start of each spray season and after any nozzle change. Direct seeders must be calibrated for each seed mix. Roll-over protection, guards and seat belts must be inspected quarterly.

5.Operator competency

A worker's name is added to an item only after the Irrigation and Plant Supervisor has observed them operate it competently and recorded the sign-off. Licences and accreditations must be sighted and their expiry dates recorded.

6.Review

The register is reviewed monthly for overdue services and calibrations and audited annually against physical assets.
