CAQA Greenfield Agri and Landcare
Greenfield Agri and Landcare is a diversified land-based enterprise in northern Victoria. It runs a 2,800 hectare mixed farm growing wheat, canola and irrigated lucerne alongside a self-replacing merino flock and a small beef herd. Its production nursery and orchard supply native tubestock, ornamental lines and stone fruit to retail nurseries, councils and revegetation projects. A parks and landscape services arm maintains reserves, streetscapes and sports grounds under contract to a regional council and builds residential and commercial landscapes. A conservation and land management team delivers revegetation, weed and pest animal control and ecological monitoring for catchment groups, private landholders and government programs.
The business works from four sites. Head office sits on the home farm in the Goulburn Valley with the machinery shed, chemical store, shearing shed and cattle yards. The production nursery and orchard occupy an irrigated block near Shepparton with propagation houses, a potting shed and a dispatch yard. The parks and landscape depot in the Bendigo region houses crews, mowers, trucks and landscape construction plant. The conservation field base on the Murray River region stores seed, planting equipment and survey gear. Farm and nursery staff work seasonal hours that stretch at sowing, harvest, lambing and spring dispatch; parks crews work a standard week with weekend sports ground duties on roster.
Greenfield manages safety, quality and environmental compliance through a controlled document system, a chemical users' accreditation program and five record-keeping systems used every day by every team. Farm chemical use is governed by Victorian agricultural chemical control of use legislation and every application is recorded before the sprayer leaves the shed. Livestock records support the national traceability system and withholding periods are tracked to the day. Machinery, quad bikes, chainsaws and chemicals are the main hazards, so every worker completes induction, a job safety analysis for non-routine work and a pre-start check on every machine. A monthly safety and environment review examines incidents, chemical records, biosecurity, weed and pest outcomes and audit findings, and tracks corrective actions to closure.
