The situation

What has happened

The wheat in paddock 12 is at stem elongation and broadleaf weeds are past threshold. The Irrigation and Plant Supervisor has created a planned entry in the Chemical Use and Storage Register and wants the job done on Friday morning before the crop passes the label growth stage. The boom sprayer was calibrated last month and the calibration record is in the Plant and Equipment Register. A neighbour's vineyard runs along the eastern boundary and a drainage channel crosses the northern corner. The forecast is for a light westerly early, strengthening by mid-morning.

Your brief. Plan, prepare, apply and record a compliant herbicide application to 110 hectares of wheat, meeting the label, the weather conditions and the buffer distances, with every step documented in the Chemical Use and Storage Register and the sprayer pre-start records.

What to look for

Evidence guide

Evidence must show the label read and applied correctly, a correct quantity calculation with an independent check, buffer distances to the vineyard and channel, explicit wind and temperature stop conditions, correct personal protective equipment and mixing sequence, and a complete register entry with the withholding end date. Check that rinsate is never directed to the channel.

The student's evidence summary lists every record they created or changed in the systems named above, their notes and the tasks they ticked. Verify it against the deliverables and your own assessment tool.
