Environment and Sustainability Policy

Purpose. This policy sets Greenfield's commitments to protecting soil, water, native vegetation and wildlife across its own land and the land it manages for others.

1.Purpose and scope

Greenfield's business depends on healthy soils, clean water and functioning ecosystems. This policy applies to every activity on every site and client property, from paddock cultivation to park maintenance and revegetation works.

2.Commitments

Greenfield will comply with the Catchment and Land Protection Act 1994 (Victoria), the Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act 1988 (Victoria) and the Water Act 1989 (Victoria). Greenfield will manage declared weeds and pest animals on its land, protect remnant native vegetation, use water within its entitlements and prevent chemical and nutrient runoff to waterways.

3.Soil and water

Cultivation, grazing and irrigation must be planned to prevent erosion, compaction and salinity. Chemical and fertiliser applications must observe buffer distances from waterways and drains. Wash-down water must be contained and must not enter drains or creeks.

4.Native vegetation and wildlife

Workers must not remove native vegetation without a documented approval. Nesting birds and hollow-bearing trees must be identified before pruning or removal works. Conservation crews must follow the ecological and cultural site inspection steps before disturbing any site.

5.Waste and resources

Chemical containers, oils, batteries, plastics and green waste must be separated and sent to the approved recycling or disposal channel. Every department will report fuel, energy and waste figures to the monthly safety and environment review.

6.Review

This policy will be reviewed every two years by the General Manager.
