The situation

What has happened

Spring is the busiest time in the nursery. Propagation house 2 has 180 trays of eucalyptus and acacia seed to finish sowing for autumn revegetation orders, each batch needing a label so the plants can be traced to the seed lot. At the same time a cooperative order of 2,400 native tubestock must be picked, graded, labelled and loaded on Friday. Anything root-bound, diseased or under size must be graded out. A recent chemical spill in the store means the trolley rule is being enforced, and the quarantine bay has new stock that must not be mixed with the order.

Your brief. Complete the propagation sowing with correct batch records, then pick, grade, label and prepare the tubestock order for dispatch, working safely and following nursery hygiene and biosecurity rules, and report any shortfall.

Evidence guide

Check that sowing depth, density and batch labelling are correct and traceable, that grading criteria are applied consistently with reasons recorded, that the quarantine bay and dedicated tool rules are observed, that the trolley is used for every crate and that the shortfall is reported accurately and promptly.

The student's evidence summary lists every record they created or changed in the systems named above, their notes and the tasks they ticked. Verify it against the deliverables and your own assessment tool.
